Droid had a serious problem with speaker phone. If you try to use it the person you call will hear a very loud high pitched sound like that makes conversation impossible. Verizon customer service did not acknowledge there was a problem, making it seem like a unique problem. I was told I needed to get a replacement Droid. So that is what I did. First time I used the speaker phone, the loud sound was present. I also contacted the manufacturer, Motorola and they denied any knowledge of a problem with the speaker phone.
Finally, I spoke to a manager in the Verizon store that acknowledged there is a problem and gave me a work around. You turn on speaker, shut it off and restart to clear the obnoxious sound!!! I hope it works. Shame on Verizon and Motorola for making an expensive phone that does not even provide a working speaker phone.
