Have purchased two VW vehicles with strong recommendations from other customers. Had the 2003 VW Beetle looked at for slipping between the 2nd and 3rd gears with a VW Dealership in Dayton, OH. They estimated the cost of the repairs for a new transmission would be over $6000, more than the blue book price of the car. I found a mechanic that would diagnose the car which took sometime, but it wasn't the transmission, but the transmission valve body. He repaired it for just over $2000. Recently, I received a recall on Valve Body's and if it had been previously repaired they advised to send the repair paperwork. The Warranty department sent me a letter that said the warranty expired on 3/15/2010, but the repair of my VW Beetled was 4/16/2010. Are you kidding? A month past the warranty even though the dealership diagnosed the issue in 2009. I'm truly frustrated with VW Customer Service department and this loyal VW customer, will not purchase another VW.
