I completely respect every one of your opinions, but I have one of my own. I want to say that I got my pictures taken at Lifetouch in June of last year (2010) and I thought they turned out amazing! Sure, they're a little pricey, as is any senior portrait place. But just like anything else, you get back what you put into it. So if you wanna go pay $20 for the whole set of pictures, I'm sure they'll never be close to as good as if you "splurged" a little to make them worthwhile.
