In Colorado, lenders are not allowed by law to require insurance above the loan balance. LBPS has been advised of this, but they bought me insurance at 8 times the going rate anyway, saying that I needed another $85, 000 more than my balance. My agent contacted them and sent them paperwork that proves my coverage is more than $285, 000 they require (unlimited replacement cost for the house).
