My wife went into our local BofA branch in West Islip, NY to have them provide a medallion guarantee (MG) of her signature. The MG is to be used to transfer the stock of her recently deceased father into her name. The MG is nothing more than a stamp from a bank acknowledging that her signature is correct, sort of like a notary. Since we have our accounts at BofA, and they have her signature on file, this is an easy thing to do. It's also a requirement of the bank.
