I was contacted via mail by Northland Group Inc. offering me a settlement to pay off a credit card(mastercard)I previously had with Capital One. I was under the understanding I was paying on that account. I even requested a letter confirming my accont was paid. When I reviewed my credit report I notice that Capital One had sold the account to a different collection agency called Portfolio Recovery Associates and the account number did not match the account number Northland Group Inc. provided me.
