I just found out that in March, 2011, Macys changed their practices for using credit cards. They have a "new business practice" according to the phone representative I contacted to find out my available balance. They now have a "flexible" limit, and whenever you try to use it a "request" is made to see if you can charge this amount. I requested a fairly small amount and was told I couldn't charge that amount. I explained what my limit had been and was told that was not the case anymore, and that she was sorry.
