I got involved with J. B. Hunt's owner/operator program. Signed a contract with them to more or less "pay as you go" for a tractor. Recruiters and instructors guaranteed me I would be given enough driving miles to earn my truck payment and all overhead costs plus be able to make enough to put money in my pocket to survive until truck was paid for.
