My 4.5 year old Whirlpool Duet washing machine needs to be replaced or I can spend approximately $1300 to have it repaired. The bearings, tub and basket all need to be replaced. I contacted Whirlpool and they offered no assistance whatsoever. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect an expensive washing machine to last longer than 4.5 years. I realize that over time appliances require repairs but this is a major repair and given the cost to repair we are better off buying a new washing machine.
