I was contacted at work by a baffoon from Burt & Associates for an outstanding debt my spouse's small business owes. When I asked why he was contacting me, he told me NY is a community property state and that I was responsible too. After checking online, I determine that he outright lied. NY is not a community property State. When he called again I pointed this out. His response was, "It is as far as I'm concerned". I told him perhaps he'd better learn the law before he makes threats.
