I tried to exchange a damaged presentation book bought recently from Barnes and Noble. The "manager" who was She was extremely rude and smug refused to exchange it. She said I needed to have the receipt but I explained to her that it was a gift from a family member from out of state and didn't have a receipt. I tried to purchase a new one and she said she would put a note not to be able to return it because she said I would just return the old one.
