My neighborhood had a garage sale and had a few items we were going to just discard to the trash but decided that someone could use some items that were in useable condition. They accepted a box filled w/ hand bags and totes, luggage, toaster oven ( 2 years old) but a 19 inch color TV was not accepted. Works, cable ready and 5 years old.
