On April 16, 2011, my iPhone 3GS was bricked. I called AT&T, who said I was still under contract for the data/phone plane, and had to upgrade my phone to the iPhone 4. However, because I was not within 3 months of my two year contract, I had to pay $199 for the iPhone 4, plus $200 to renew my contract. I told AT&T I had no intention to renew any contract, and that I wanted out of my contract.
