We had a couple of domain names registered with Network Solutions that was up for renewal. While we were in the renewal process we were suddenly informed by Network Solutions that the domain names had been reserved by someone else on the date it expired. This date was after we had requested a renewal. Network Solutions tells us that the only thing we can do is to contact the company that reserved the domains, New Media Investments inc, and try to get it from them.
