I called Loss Mitigation Services from a flier I received in the mail. I was in financial trouble and was behind on my mortgage. The flier looked like it was from my lender so I thought it was ok. The representative told me that they process the application for my lender, so I went along with it and filled out the application with all the paperwork they asked for.
