I bought a new 2008 Mercury Montego. At 61, 000 miles the transmission started to fail. After the third service over 3 weeks, Ford recommended changing out the transmission as the only solution. The dealer helped some but the cost still came to $5946.81. This is not being recognized by Ford-Mercury as a problem and they elected to not stand behind their product. This is a new transmission design, and the dealer said the first service is at 60, 000 miles. Heres an ad campaign slogan –“ buy a montego and change your transmission every 60, 000 miles!” I don’t think many cars will sell with that. Do you? read full review »
