My car was making a strange noise so I took it to Pacific Motor Service in Monterey. The owner, Kevin, told me it was a serious engine problem and would cost $3200 to repair. I told him I wanted to take it elsewhere for a second opinion. He told me it was a safety issue and refused to let me have the car back. I threatened to call the police and finally he handed me the keys. I took it to another mechanic who fixed the problem for $215.
