Back in November I came across a web site touting "Free Credit Reports"; inasmuch as MD has a 'one free credit report per year' law, I clicked on and ordered my "free" report. Well, I not only received my report with an excellent score, but my credit card statement also showed the first of monthly charges of $12.00. Hey, I did not sign up for an annual and ongoing contract. Those thieves got my credit card and scammed me into a monthly fee.
