I just bought a new house in another town and needed to transfer service from my apartment to my new house. Two days after making the initial call for service, still no phone. I stressed the importance of needing a land line because my husband is a local police officer and is on call from 3am - 7am on the days he works. Fairpoint promised that they would not terminate phone service at our apartment until phone service at our new house was established, due to the importance of needing a land line.
