I applied for long term disability benefits through my employer (Federal Government) under a policy that I had purchased 13 years ago. I suffer from a progressive neurodegenerative disease (contracted well after the purchase of my policy) and had reached a point where I could no longer work. It took Aetna approximately 6 months to reply with an initial denial of LTD benefits.
