I had a credit card that was bought by Bank of America (BAC). The card had a 7.8% fixed interest, and I'd had this card for over a dozen years. I have an excellent credit rating and have never missed a payment. In June '09 they raised my interest rate to 12.99%, retroactively - which included my $11, 000 debt, not just future purchases. When I called and said I wanted my old rate reinstated, they told me it was an across the board increase.
