Rod Haglund contracts with a company to perform "intake services" for his loan modification business. He collects up front fees directly from clients ranging from $4000-4500. When client payments clear (checks or credit cards) Haglund pays the company I work for, and then I am paid. In my particular example, the client's payment cleared the bank on 8/10.
