My husband passed away recently and I have been going through his credit cards and cancelling them. Every other company has been easy to deal with - they made a note on the account and will freeze activity until I get a copy of the death certificate. Most of them have told me I don't even owe them any money. (His balances were very small, if anything.) When I called Tribute to cancel or freeze the account I was told they would not do anything without the death certificate.
