I had been a directv customer for 7 years when they contacted me about June or July of 2009 to talk about upgrading my equipment. I told them I wasn't about to pay anything for new equipment when they wouldn't and or couldn't make it out to repair the problems I was currently having (my upstairs receiver wouldn't work unless the downstairs receiver was turned on) and that I was paying a monthly fee of $5.99 for this protection plan.
