On Friday, October 2nd, DYFS was alerted to two minors (ages 6 and 10) being home alone for hours after school in a house with no way to call out in case of emergency due to a lack of working telephones in the home. Having spoke to my son the day this took place, I was able to talk to the attending police officer that was sent to keep an eye on the children until the caseworker arrived, and requested that they keep me informed on what was happening.
