I purchased a Dell laptop several years ago. May I add at that time, their customer service department was wonderful. It seems that the power cord to my lap top was poorly designed, I've had a problem with the male end breaking and causing the wire/cord to short out. My first complaint approx. a years ago, was handled properly. A tech came out, free of charge to replaced the cord, and made sure that the lap top was not damaged from the electrical shorts.
