The Econolodge chain is disreputable in that their business model is based on for every customer we lose, we gain 7 - 10 news ones.. this is vividly true of their California units. I stayed at Econolodges in CA, in different cities, over the Christmas holiday... in one there was no hot water as the operator apparently shut everything down after 6 Pm the night before... so at 6 AM the morning after, no hot water and no one to complain to, as facility was locked tight and no attendant around... that was in Mojave CA.
