After calling Liberty Bank of Connecticut, I went in to open a checking account for a sole proprietorship that I started. I brought in my letter from the Internal Revenue Service, attesting to my employer identification number (i.e., taxpayer identification number), my company name, and legal address. The manager refused to open a business checking account for my business, claiming that it required a trade name certificate, which could be purchased at the Town Hall of Berlin. I immediately left that bank and drove down the road and opened a business checking account at another bank without any such ridiculous required document. read full review »
