I had Directv for 4 years. When I switched to AT&T U-verse, I called Directv to cancel my service.There was no talk of any contractual obligations, but they told me I could suspend my account without cost for 3 months, just in case U-verse didn't work out. Without any warning, Directv then debited my checking account for $412. I had never given them this checking account number as a deposit, and had only used it each month to pay my bill.
