Prior to traveling to Germany for a vacation, I reserved a rental car through Avis at an estimated cost of $463.31. When I arrived at the Avis rental counter at the Frankfurt Airport, I was told that German law required cars to have winter during the winter months, and the same car that rents for $463.31 with summer tires costs 469.94 Euro (approximately $690.00) with winter tires.
