I ordered DirecTV for my mother's room in a Nursing Home where that was the only available service. I ordered basic service, no DVR. As soon as the Tech installed it and gave us the remote I knew this would not work for her. The remote had a lot of buttons that were for use with a DVR. My mother has Alzheimers and would NEVER understand those buttons. I called that day and cancelled the service. They allegedly give you 24 hours to cancel without obligation which I did.
