I try to re finance my existing home loan. We are offered an FHA loan and we pay the $400 for the appraisal up front. The loan officer has no clue what he's doing and we wait 6 weeks for communcation. The appraisal says we have some chipping paint on our 40 year old home and it has to be rectified before we can close. We have had two feet of snow and below average tempurature and it's January.
