I put a $300 deposit in a car, a Jeep Cherokee, which was for sale for $12, 000. The Blue Book value was $5400. The next day, when I found out, I went back to get my deposit back. The salesman, who was dirty and missing a few teeth, refused to give me back my deposit. The only thing that saved me was that he had forgotten to have me sign a contract saying the money was nonrefundable, and had given me a receipt.
