I have been trying to modify my loan since July 2008. I couldn't afford my taxes and mortgage due to an unexpected medical and auto expense. When they agreed to pay my back taxes for me and slightly increase my monthly payment I thought I was rescued. My statement now says I owe $5, 028.54 they added those onto my payment along with almost $500 in fees and I don't even know what they are for.
