Gexa Energy seems to lure customers in with substantially reduced rates but once the contract expires the rates jump substantially. Our area was devastated by Hurricane Ike and when our rates went up we assumed it was a one time adjustment because meter readers were unavailable for the month and so energy companies estimated usage from prior months. When it stayed high we finally took a closer look at the bill. Gexa jumped us up from paying around 14-17 cents per kilowatt hour to 21.03 cents.
