My father and I purchased a car in July of 2006. I made payments on the car on time every month no questions. In December of 2007 I sent a check that was cashed my banked verified for me but according to GMAC, they never received payment. I continued to send in my checks while attempting to talk to someone that knew where my money was, considering myself and my bank sent them copies of the check with their endorsment, but every month GMAC considered me a month behind in payments and tacked on late fees each month.
