I signed up for a Free Equip and Install Promotion. I had a 2 year contract with Direct TV. I had to move 2 1/2 years after my contract to antoher city. They told me I had 6 months to get new service or my account would be discontinued. I then moved and tried to get new service in my apartment building. I found out that service was not available. Direct TV then sent me a bill for $340 wanting all of my equipment back including a $300 HD DVR I had to purchase initially.
