I was a credit card holder of Providian Financial Services, until it was taken over by Washington Mutual, then about a year ago, it was taken over by J.P. Morgan Chase. In the four years I had this credit card I never had any problem with Providian or Washington Mutual. When Chase took over, I was mailed a letter stating that my APR would be arbitrarily increased by 12% due to the sagging economy.
