During a checkout at Kohl's, I was offered a "department store" card by the cashier and a $20 discount. I thought it was a Safeway card style discount card. Big mistake! I entered some info on a POS device (address, phone, etc.) and the cashier promptly obtained my signature. When I saw the APR XX% on the form, I asked her if this was a department store card or a credit card. She said it was a credit card.
