I can't believe it, I never heard of an oven door exploding but that is exactly what happened today with my 3 year old Kenmore, freestanding range. It was not even on and the last time I had used it was 2 weeks ago. I was in the kitchen and had just walked out when I heard a sound like ice breaking, then the sound of falling glass onto the floor. When I went back into the kitchen to investigate I was shocked to find glass falling from my oven door and my kitchen floor covered in it.
