My laptop was making a LOUD "whiiiiir-ing" sound for a week or so and was driving me nuts! It was still working okay, but the sound was obnoxious! I decided go into Best Buys Geek Squad to have my computer diagnosed and repaired. The guy working almost laughed at me when I was explaining my problem and said (as if I should have known) "Thats the FAN!" - "Okay, fantastic, its the fan... can you fix it?"
