I've been buying Levis for my husband for about 15 years--he works outdoors and wears jeans to work every day, so he goes through maybe a 10-12 pairs a year. I replace them because they get faded or frayed; nothing I'd consider a failure of the jeans. I got him 2 pairs of 501s -- not from an outlet, but from the Levis store. Both pairs have shrunk to the point that we had to give them away -- they didn't get tighter, they got SHORTER.
