I bought 12 large square plates, 12 small square plates, 12 bowls and 12 mugs stamped on the bottom 'American Simplicity, Microwave and Dishwasher Safe China' from Target. They are not microwave or dishwasher safe. When I put them in the microwave, even if only for a few seconds, they become too hot to handle without an oven mitt. It is especially dangerous at this point as my 83 year old mother has moved in with us and I'm so afraid she will get burned. Also, the plates are all chipping in the same spot in the dishwasher.
