I recently paid $345 for a new water heater from Home Depot which included $319 installation fee. As if that wasn't enough, when the delivery man came to install it he charged me an EXTRA $193 to "bring it up to code", ( to replace a saddle valve ) so the total price of the water heater is now $893! What a scam. THe alterations needed were VERY minor. While the agreement says additional charges might occur to bring things up to code it is still MUCH cheaper to have a local plumber install it.
