I recently purchased a 10 piece bedding set from overstock.com, and when I received it, the material was so stiff I felt I had no choice but to wash it before using. After the first washing (according to the manufacturer's suggestion on the tag), the black piping on the outer edge ran into the whie comforter, and the corners of the pillow shams all split.
