I called GMAC customer service on Oct. 5, 2010 to set up a payment deferment on my car loan. The rep said that was not a problem, and explained I would need to make a partial payment on my normal due date this month, call back 24 hours later, and that the rep would process the deferment manually. I made the partial payment, and on October 11th, I called back to confirm and proceed with the deferment.
