I recently transferred a large payment from one bank to Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo sent me a letter saying the payment was on hold because they had "reason to believe that this payment has not yet cleared the other financial institution." Citibank ahs assured me that they do not transfer funds that are not covered. When I called Wells Fargo, the Customer Service rep said I was going to be investigated by Citibank for Fraud. Boy, was Citibank surprised to discover that Wells Fargo was twlling me this. There is no case of fraud and the the funds were covered in my account.
