On December 3, 2010, I mailed two payments to chase. One check to pay my credit card off and the other to pay my monthly mortgage payment plus a large amount of principal (about $200 less than full payoff). I live in a non pre-payment penalty state and may pay as much principal as I want any time I like BY LAW. While the check to pay my credit card cleared in four days, the other rather large check has not cleared ten days later.
