We experienced the same thing yesterday morning with the burning plastic in our 4 year old Kenmore Elite Trio. Very scary indeed; the plastic housing is all melted and the bulb sockets are charred. Light bulbs were too hot to handle with oven mitts on. Called the 1-800-4-my-home for repair and the representative was clearly unconcerned for the safety of my family. I realize it is a holiday weekend and we have to wait until Monday for service but I do not expect to pay for any defective merchandise repair.
