Chase requires a $30 fee to find out my mortgage payoff balance. What happened to the good old days when we received a statement mailing after sending in each mortgage payment, telling us the balance each month? Maybe the mailing cost them money, and I understand stopping the mailing, but they should provide the info free of charge, or, ideally access to the info online, which the rep said is not available to us. How do I know I'm not being charged even after my loan is paid off? I suppose it's always buyer beware -- I should have been keeping a running mortgage balance tally on my own anyway. read full review »
